Two Sections, One School
The German European School Manila (GESM) is a European international school with two parallel sections offering all grades from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The students study towards an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. While the German Section is primarily for German-speaking students, the European Section mainly accepts English speakers.
The German Section is an accredited German School Abroad and is awarded the certificate 'Excellent German School Abroad.' It starts with Kindergarten and culminates with an accredited German degree after Grade 10 giving access to German 'Qualifikationsphase der gymnasialen Oberstufe.' Our teachers instruct according to a standard G8 German syllabus. The English language lessons are particularly demanding and students are encouraged to write the IGCSE English Language exam at the end of Grade 10.
Grade 11 students commence the bilingual German-English IB Diploma Programme (GIB), which is an equivalent to the German 'Abitur.'
The English speaking International Section starts with Kindergarten following the syllabus of the Primary Years Programme. The GESM International Section is an authorised IB World School. At the end of Grade 10, students sit the IGCSE exams and are encouraged to write the German certificate: 'Deutches Sprachdiplom.'
Grade 11 students commence the IB Diploma Programme.
