Our German Secondary or Mittelstufe runs from the 5th to 10th grade (Klasse 5 - 10). We offer all subjects offered by schools in Germany: German, mathematics, English, French, natural sciences, social sciences, sports, arts, physical education, religion/ethics and music. Our teaching is based on modern methods, taught using the latest technological teaching aids.
Our curriculum is based on the official curriculum of Germany. It is focused on competencies, providing a modern, holistic education, enriched by the educational principles most typical of Germany and Europe:
-
independent critical thinking,
-
social and environmental awareness and responsibility and
-
self-determination.

Recognized German state certificates are issued after the 9th and 10th grades respectively:

-
HAUPTSCHULABSCHLUSS (school leaving certificate) after 9th grade
-
REALSCHULABSCHLUSS (school leaving certificate) after 10th grade
-
ZUGANG ZUR GYMNASIALEN OBERSTUFE (the official permit to be promoted to 11th grade) after 10th grade.

All students can proceed to the 11th grade to be part of either our Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme which gives access to universities worldwide, but especially to universities within Germany.

In the GESM, the 5th to 10th graders are offered elective subjects in different fields in addition to the extra-curricular activities. These electives could be anything from academic subjects, language support for German, and all manner of sports and art lessons.

The main medium of instruction is, of course, German. However, non-native speakers may still apply and be accepted depending on their proficiency level.

German child-rearing practices place a high value on independence and responsibility. The same is true for our German Kindergarten where even non-German-speaking kids are welcome to attend.

Our Grundschule or "German Primary" offers an educational programme in line with German traditions of education for children in Grades 1 to 5.
