Grade 4E students recently embarked on a field trip to a yoga studio (Open Mat in Makati), where they had the unique opportunity to explore various aspects of health and well-being. The day was divided into two enlightening workshops, each offering valuable insights into their Unit theme, "Who We Are."
Breathing with Reef Liggayu
The morning session was led by Reef, a breathwork instructor with a wealth of knowledge in holistic health. Mr. Liggayu guided our students through a seminar on optimizing their health through the power of breathing techniques. This was a significant exploration of our central idea, "The choices people make link them to their understanding of health and well-being." Through mindful breathing exercises and relaxation techniques, our young learners discovered the profound connection between breath, mind, and body. They learned practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, and promote physical and mental health. Reef's expertise left a lasting impression on our students, equipping them with valuable skills for life.
Empowering Ourselves Through Self-Defense
In the 2nd part of the workshop, the students shifted gears to explore empowerment through self-defense. This seminar was a perfect fit for our inquiry into "How choices connect us to our physical, mental, social, and spiritual health." Led by knowledgeable instructors, our Grade 4 students embraced the empowering world of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Learning self-defense isn't just about physical strength; it's about cultivating mental and emotional resilience. The workshop instilled confidence, teaching our students that they have the power to protect themselves and make choices that promote their well-being.
