A Spooky Spirit Week: Creativity, Community, and Compassion Unite!

Updated: 6 days ago

by: Mila Krstovic and Mia Schaffer (IB-1 students)

In the spirit of Halloween, a group of IB1 students thought about hosting a spirit week in school. The idea was to give students a specific theme for every day of the week which they would follow or dress up for. The schedule was as follows: Monday – Everything but a bag pack Day, Tuesday – Pajama Day, Wednesday – Jersey Day, and Thursday – Disney Costume Day. In addition to that, the class with the most participants from the English and German Secondary Sections were given a pizza as a prize!

Monday consisted of students who brought everything from food delivery boxes to cat carriers, cooler boxes to guitar cases. Students brought out their creative ideas and still managed to bring all their school materials with them. On Tuesday, students remained comfy styling their pajamas to school while on Wednesday they wore their favorite players and teams’ jerseys to school. Thursday ended the week with many Disney characters making appearances in school. Characters such as Moana, Tinkerbell, and Prince Naveen walked the hallways of our campus. As mentioned, a pizza could be won by the 2 classes with the most participants which were the 8th grade from the German section and the 7th grade from the international section.

To complete the Halloween setting and get everyone in the mood for trick or treating, cookies and brownies made by the students hosting spirit week along with candy were sold on Tuesday and Thursday during lunch break. The money raised went to buying supplies, such as clean drinking water and cup noodles to help those who were severely affected by the recent typhoon and needed support in Batangas.

The whole week was filled with laughs and good moods as students brought out their most creative sides!
