Captain Koala arrives from Australia

28 Aug 2020 | by Viola Buck

While learning about the qualities of a Hero in last school year's "How We Express Ourselves" choice of hero unit, our International Section 3rd graders invited Captain Triston Simeon of Philippine Airlines, hero of the crash-landed PAL flight 113, and sent letters/cards of appreciation to the bushfire firefighters in Bunyip, Australia.

Capt. Simeon graciously accepted our invitation and visited the school.

And the Australian firefighters? They sent us the cuddliest hero of all!

Captain Koala and an array of cute stickers arrived in GESM after 3months of quarantine at the post office. The firefighters also offered their expertise and stand ready to be invited in any of our online classrooms, as an additional expert resource, especially about community helpers.

Captain Koala now sits at GESM's International Primary office ready to serve in our online classes at a moment's notice.
