Early Years Christmas Programme

by Katrina Uytengsu | 18 Dec 2020

Happy Holidays! The Early Years have been counting the days until Christmas. Although we still cannot celebrate Christmas face to face, we made sure that our activities are as festive, memorable and meaningful just like any other Christmas we’ve spent together. In the Philippines one of the most iconic symbols is the Christmas lantern or “parol”. It symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and the Filipinos’ goodwill during the Christmas season. With this, the Early Years thought of ways on how we can help others in our community especially during these trying times. One of our traditional Christmas activities in school is the parol making. Instead of just gifting this to our parents, we thought of making Parol Kits to sell. The proceeds of this project will be used to help the hospital frontliners who have been caring and working tirelessly for their patients since the pandemic started.

Early Years Christmas Program

The Early Years truly made this Christmas season merry and bright for everyone with their performances. The Panda Bears prepared a dance number with the song “This Is Our Christmas.” It was their first time to present live online. They were very patient and courageous during all their practices. They also made their elf hat costume together during online class. Next were the German Kindergarten who made a video presentation of the song "Ich schenk dir einen Glitzerstern"(I gift to you a twinkling star). In the video, you can see the German Kiga showing their beautiful artworks to everyone. What a perfect gift this Christmas season! In addition, the Big foxes presented another beautiful video. It is a short story about friendship and sharing with others. The next performers were the Sea Turtles. Their song “Merry Twistmas” shows how they feel about the Christmas season. They can’t help but dance, sing and twist as we get closer and closer to Christmas day. Ms. Christina also shared with everyone what she has been working on with the Panda Bears and Sea Turtles during DaF. The Panda Bears made beautiful fingers paintings of reindeers, angels, Christmas trees, gifts and a snowman. While the Sea Turtles shared with us their Christmas wishes. It was nice to hear them wish for priceless gifts such as good health and good fortune for their families. For the last activity of our Christmas program, the children, parents, and teachers were invited to share a silly moment together as we danced and sang to the music “Einen Muh Einen Mäh.” A little bit of silliness goes a long way in these trying times. Wishing you all a safe and peaceful Christmas.
