Grades 4E-a, 4E-b and 4D's recent field trip to Bambikes Intramuros brought history into the classroom while connecting directly with our unit on economics, social enterprise, and sustainability. At Bambikes, students discovered how eco-friendly bamboo bicycles represent an innovative social enterprise that supports local communities and environmental care.
As we cycled and used kalesa’s through the historic streets of Intramuros, classroom theories came to life. Students observed firsthand how sustainable practices—like using renewable bamboo—can lower production costs and promote community development. This hands-on experience deepened their understanding of key economic principles and the real-world impact of responsible business practices.
The day left our students inspired and eager to explore how sustainable innovations can drive both economic success and social good.
