German Unity Day – A Special Day for Our Secondary Students

On October 2, our secondary students celebrated German Unity Day with an impressive event that reminded us all the importance of this day. The highlight was a diverse program of performances, all organized and presented by students from various grade levels in the secondary school.


The event began with a remarkable theatrical performance by the 5th and 6th graders, who skillfully portrayed the fall of the Berlin Wall through different scenes on stage. With great dedication, they showed how this historic moment changed the lives of millions of people.


Another highlight was a rap performance by two 10th-grade students that captivated the audience. Their self-written lyrics addressed the themes of freedom, division, and reunification, successfully bringing the historical significance into a modern context. The entire event was accompanied by a selection of songs that centered on the valuable theme of freedom, adding a special touch to the celebration.


The grand finale of the program was a live interview with an eyewitness, conducted by 10th-grade students. The emotional words of the eyewitness powerfully reminded us of the challenges and hopes that people faced during that time.


The event was expertly hosted by 9th-grade students, who skillfully guided the audience through the diverse program.


In the lobby, visitors could also admire an exhibition of portraits depicting politicians involved in the process of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The portraits were accompanied by profiles that detailed the life stories and political backgrounds of these key figures. Another standout was a timeline that vividly illustrated the key events of the Cold War, providing an overview of the major turning points of that era.


The German Unity Day celebration for our secondary school students was a successful blend of art, theater, music, information, and reflection. It reminded us of the importance of unity and freedom—not only in the past but also for our future.
