For the third year in a row, the Eurocampus Manila community, led by the German European School Manila (GESM) came together for a great cause, organizing the 24-Hour Swim Marathon—a fundraising event dedicated to supporting Children of the Dump Manila. This charity aids children from families living in and around Manila’s largest dumpsite, providing them with access to education, food, and a brighter future.
From 12:00 PM on February 13 to 12:00 PM on February 14, students, parents, teachers, and partners took turns swimming as many laps as possible, collecting pledged donations for every lap completed. We didn’t just meet expectations this year—we shattered last year’s record. In 2024, the community swam an impressive 7,265 laps, but in 2025, that number soared to a new high of 8,555 laps!
What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than by showing real love—love for others, love for giving, and love for making a difference? As the clock struck noon on February 14, GESM wrapped up 24 hours of dedication and generosity, a testament to the belief that the heart of the school beats strongest when it's helping those in need.
And the event wasn’t just about swimming. To keep the energy and excitement going, parents and teachers organized side activities for students staying overnight and parents on site cheering. From a disco night and film showing to an interactive hydroponics workshop and more, there was something for everyone. Many also contributed by donating food, drinks, and other supplies.
A special thank you goes to our Eurocampus partners, Lycée Français de Manille (LFM), whose students and teachers joined in to help make this event a success. Their participation made this marathon more than just a fundraiser—it was a true community effort.
Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to everyone who swam, pledged, donated, and cheered!
