The whole school community of the German European School Manila (GESM) generated close to PHP130,000 in donations over Christmas -- a whopping amount and a testament to our parents', students' and teachers' generosity.
Our preschool staff (Early Years Programme and KiGa+Vorschule) raised funds from the sale of Parol kits to distribute meals to medical frontliners working overtime in local hospitals. On top of that, they were able to distribute food and gift packs to families in the province of Cavite whose parents lost their jobs during the pandemic. Many thanks to Mrs. Nicole Javier for leading the charge in this drive!
Meanwhile, International Primary led by Mrs. Viola Buck organized the procurement and distribution of emergency kits to families in the coastal community of Bulungan, Parañaque City. These were raised from donations during their Christmas talent show. School officials including Head of School Mr. Christoph-Boris Frank were there at the distribution. Also present was city Congressman Eric Olivarez. They were able to meet and talk with members of the community and see how they conduct their livelihoods.
Lastly, the school community also raised funds via the Christmas raffle organized by students and teachers of International Secondary, IB and the Mittelstufe, led by Mr. Julen Ferrandon. The funds raised were duly handed over to the AJ Kalinga Foundation, a non-profit that tends to the poor and homeless of Metro Manila.
Thank you very much to all those who had a part in making these pursuits successful -- especially to the very generous GESM families who were so willing and eager to share what they have in the spirit of the yuletide season!
