On Saturday January 25th GESM students enjoyed their first taste of MISAA basketball action at the Chinese International School Manila. Eight eager players U-15 (Division 2) boys started off the day’s competition by battling the powerful Everest Academy team, who have won the league title the last two years. Getting off to a slow start, the boys valiantly fought back but were never able to make up the deficit.
Following that tilt, the Mixed U-11(Division 3) took to the court. This time the opponent was CISM who seemed comfortable on their own court jumping out to an early lead. The GESM squad never gave up but were unable to catch up on the scoreboard.
Lacing up their shoes for GESM were Lola, Archer, Maram, Maxine, Karen, Princess, Manon, Ohsei, Abril from 5E; Sandro and Santi from 6E; San, Iago, Sebastian and Deacon from 8E; and Maceo from 8D.
In the end, good competition and sportsmanship was exhibited. Our goal is to continue to build upon this first game. We anticipate the chance to play more MISAA games and other tournaments down the road.
