GESM Student Serves as Subject Matter Expert for MUNA Academy

On Saturday November 20th, a landmark event took place online with the inaugural MUNA Academy. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Makati and hosted by the De la Salle College of St. Benilde’s School of Diplomacy and International Affairs, this Philippine Department of Education initiative sought to train over 100 public school students from around the Philippines on virtually every aspect of Model United Nations. We were extremely proud that GESM’s very own Deputy Secretary General, Shagorika Kar (Gr.10), who volunteered as a “Subject Matter Expert” to teach these eager would-be diplomats about the ins and outs of resolution writing. As a UNESCO affiliated school, the volunteer work Shagorika provided was a wonderful way to continue our mission to encourage local educational initiatives.

The purpose of the event was to provide the foundation of knowledge for these newly trained students to participate and shine in the upcoming VMUNA Conference, now slated for January 22nd and 23rd of next year. Mark your calendars!
