Coming off the heels of the exhausting but rewarding Yale Model United Nations event the previous weekend, it might have been easy for some of our students to take a pass and relax. But that was not the case!
GESM joined fourteen other international schools throughout the Philippines for the final two days of Manila “Locals” on Friday January 29th and Saturday the 30th. The virtual event, hosted by British School Manila, featured committee topics ranging from territorial claims in Antarctica to how the UN can help unilaterally clear war-torn areas. Among our student delegates representing their respective country assignments were Rasesh Barot (Gr. 11), Kai Matus (Gr. 11) and Fahama Dastgeer (Gr. 9). It is with great pleasure we can add that our own Deputy Secretary General, Kai Matus, was awarded a certificate for best speaker representing Venezuela in her General Assembly Committee. Well done Kai and all the GESM students that participated!
