So what's abstract art?

by Corinna Gill

The children of the 3rd and 4th grade of GESM have intensively studied aspects of abstract art.

Here's what they learned:

"Making an abstract work looks easier than it is. So Kandinsky was a good painter!"

"Painting representational art is still difficult for me. With abstract art, I just feel free".

"With my abstract painting, I can let my imagination and feelings out freely."

"It was fun just playing with shapes and colors."

"First we learned about Kandinsky, then printed with shapes and later painted them with color."

"The artist Matisse 'painted' with scissors, his shapes are round and look organic."

With leftover papers and recycled materials, they ended up making sculptures and even mobiles at home.
