by Carlos Galvez IV & Zachary Ferrandon (IB-2)

On September 28th, in collaboration with fellow IB-1 and IB-2 students, we successfully hosted the first ever GESM volleyball tournament.

This vibrant competition showcased the talents of six participating teams: San Beda, Trace High School, Colegio De Los Baños, PAREF Southridge, Noblesse International School, and the German European School Manila. The one-day event allowed participants to engage in a full schedule of matches, fostering a sense of community and excitement among players and spectators alike. The tournament utilized a group format followed by playoffs, ensuring each team had ample opportunity to demonstrate their skills. The gymnasium buzzed with energy as parents, friends, and other students gathered to cheer for their teams, creating an uplifting atmosphere that celebrated sportsmanship and camaraderie. The day was marked not only by thrilling matches but also by valuable lessons in teamwork, resilience, and fair play. Coaches took the opportunity to guide their players through strategic discussions, enhancing their understanding of the game.

As the tournament progressed, participants learned more than just how the sport of volleyball is; they forged friendships and built lasting memories. The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment among all teams, who left with newfound respect for each other and the sport itself. The success of this tournament has set a positive precedent for future events, promising even more thrilling competitions ahead. Overall, the volleyball tournament was a joyous and insightful experience that highlighted the spirit of collaboration and competition among local schools.
