Students take action: Educating peers about earthquakes

by Ute Massow

The whole world was shocked by the impact of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria in 2023. The students of Grade 8D took this as an opportunity to educate others on this important topic. They prepared presentations in the lobby, which were attended by primary school students, as well as students from Grades 5D and 6D, and the DaF department, to learn more about earthquakes. Now they know what an earthquake is, what the causes are, how to behave in such an extreme situation, which is not unusual even in the Philippines, which countries are most at risk, and what relief efforts have been taken.

There is nothing more important than students being aware of current events, working on them, and passing on this knowledge to the school community.
