With everything that has happened in the last 10 days regarding the eruption of the Taal Volcano, I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the GESM Parents’ Advisory Council, to reach out to our GESM Community and say two simple words ...THANK YOU.
When I was contacted last Tuesday (January 14) evening asking if the GEB would be interested in helping the school coordinate donations to be sent to the families/communities affected by the eruption, I quickly replied YES... with zero hesitation. We had timelines and details sorted and was able to immediately send out a note to my fellow GEB members, asking for the help and generosity of our parents and students.
When the students returned to school the next day, we already had donations coming into the campus - you had anwered our call in such an immensely generous way.You truly stepped up and we are forever grateful for the support you have shown. The effects of this eruption are going to be felt for a long time and every little bit of help counts towards getting these communities back on their feet.
With that being said, I would also like to say a very special Thank You to the administration and staff of GESM who tirelessly spent days making sure our campus was clean and safe for our students to return - what an undertaking it was. Ashfall is not so simple to clean, I could attest to that. I can’t even imagine the amount of hours and focus that was put into this endeavor. The school has, obviously, taken this very seriously and that they will always have the students best interest at heart which we, as parents, truly appreciate. The constant communication to the GEB as well as the daily advisories being sent by the school administration are also well received and gives added assurance to the parents that the school is in control of the situation.
In closing, I am wishing you all a wonderful rest of the week. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the beautiful Tall Volcano has decided to finally quiet down and return to its sleeping state.

The G.E.B. or "Gesamt Eltern Beirat" (also called in English as the GESM Parents' Advisory Council) is an association of parents existing with the aim at bettering and maintaining good cooperation between parents and school management. Throughout the year, the GEB represents the interests of parents in monthly meetings with school management and provides an active platform for all sorts of improvements, ideas, and suggestions.
